Welcome to the 20th Annual Celebrate Canada Day in Mill Woods event. Yes, we have been doing this for 20 years now. If you have been married for 20 years, then its your Platinum Anniversary. Come celebrate with us at Edmonton's Platinum Canada Day Celebration.

We are in the midst of putting the finishing touches on this year's event. We are working hard finalizing the day's entertainment and activities and would love to see some new faces around the table. This event is truly a Community Event, supported by the 10 Community Leagues within Mill Woods and The Meadows, as well as the Mill Woods Presidents' Council. This year, the Community Leagues of Summerside and Ellerslie have decided to also join in on this Platinum Event, but we need your involvement too.

Every year, we use about 200 volunteers to help make this event a success. Most of them are needed on July 1st and you always come through to fill the needed positions. Thank you for that. This year, however, we need more people to volunteer around the planning tables. You might think that you don't have the time to help plan the event. The fact is that it doesn't take much time at all to lend your ideas or offer suggestions. About 3 hours a month is all it takes. Heck, I spend that amount of time in the lineup at Tim Hortins in just a week. My coffee might not be as good as Timmy's but the people are always friendly around the planning table.

Please give some thought to joining us around our planning table. We meet the last Monday of every month at 7 PM, second floor of the Mill Woods Rec Centre, in the Presidents' Room (by the Newsletter Office). Most of the hard work has already been done but we need some fresh eyes around the table. A few hours every month isn't much to give back to the Community and we truly have the very best Canada Day Party in Edmonton. For more information, please email us at : mwcanadaday@shaw.ca

Back by popular demand will be our Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. This event is open to all the volunteers for Canada Day (that includes the ones that help plan the event at our monthly meetings) and will be held just after Canada Day. It is a BBQ and our special THANK YOU to all our volunteers because you help make the event a success. More details will follow for our volunteers.

Please check out the volunteer information form contained within this month's Newsletter. It gives you an idea of what and when we need help with. Young, old and somewhere in between, please get involved. Without your support, this event won't happen.
