Mill Woods was established in the mid-1970s and was designed as a stand-alone town concept within the bounds of the city of Edmonton. Our population of nearly 100,000 people is ethnically diverse and nearly every possible ethnic or cultural group is represented. And yet, despite its differences, this community has pulled ahead of countless others to establish what they could only dream about through its ability to establish and sustain community-wide voluntary efforts to enhance the quality of life through each of its ten Community Leagues. There are many nice family-oriented neighbourhoods in the area and many families are moving into the area. This is a very convenient area to commute to and from work in the Downtown Edmonton business district or the University. With the addition of the Anthony Henday Dr., it will be easy for people working up North to get quickly to their house in Mill Woods.

Growing up in the area you will be exposed to the many different cultures and make some great friends with people from all around the world. These Canadian families have lived in Canada for a range of years from 1 to over 50 and have a deep appreciation for their home country and Canada. It is this shared appreciation that makes these families so unique and gives Mill Woods its character. If you live in this area you will immediately feel the closeness of family and the strong pride of ownership that these families have. You may already have experienced some of the unique traditions such as Chinese New Year and have taken part in some of the celebrations that they hold annually. This new area will bring in a new professional demographic and increase the overall appeal of the neighbourhood. The area will also benefit greatly from the Anthony Henday Drive which will border the area in the Southeast portion. This will allow traffic to flow around the area and give people who live in this area greater mobility around the city of Edmonton.


Mill Woods Recreation Centre is one of Edmonton’s best recreation facilities with activities and programs for all ages and abilities! The facility has an excellent water park featuring a large gradual depth wave pool, giant waterslide, diving tank, teach pool with waterfalls for children, sauna and large whirlpool. The pool is excellent for swim lessons, lane swims or aquafit classes.

The facility also has a giant world-class fitness centre and many indoor racquet courts. Fitness and wellness classes are offered, and there are nutrition and fitness consulting services available. An indoor playground for children and babysitting services make it easy for parents to squeeze in a workout during a busy day while their loved ones are cared for. Children will also love the many day camps at the facility throughout the year.

Other features include a cafeteria, meeting rooms, an indoor ice arena, adjacent sports fields and outdoor tennis courts. So much to do!
